Malifaux: The dreamer vs Perdita

Soldado and I have been looking for other games to expand in to and I finally convinced him that Malifaux was worth a shot. It's super cheap to get in to and the games go by relatively quick. We browsed around and he decided on the Perdita box both to try to con his wife into being interested and so that he could paint them in the colors of the mexican flag. Si se puede, Soldado!

I initially bought Pandora but never really got anything beyond that as I couldn't get any interest going in the local store. The SoCal Malifaux guys are super helpful, but they don't come out to Pasadena too much. So, with Soldado getting his Ortega crew going, I decided to stick with my Neverborn choice and pick up the Dreamer! I've been reading the strats over at pull my finger and it seems like the Dreamer might be a bit of a challenge to master.

We are still trying to figure out the rules at the moment, but Malifaux seems like it will be a super fun game. I really like the fluff for Neverborn and the abilities are hilarious. The Dreamer box comes with a model named Coppelius that steals and eats people's eyes. How awesome is that?!?!

Just a quick post for today. Hopefully we can get a battle report in sometime soon. Once we figure out the rules at least. All I know so far, is that black jokers are bad. M'kay!

  1. Malifaux is a fantastic game, you guys will enjoy it I'm sure. The Ortegas are crazy awesome, and relatively easy to use: move, shoot...shoot...shoot. I love them, and have a 5-1-0 record.
The Dreamer will be a bit harder to figure out, but once you do, you'll have fun with him.
    Enjoy the game, guys!

    1. Hey, thanks a lot. I think I've got the basic idea figured out, but we all know that changes once you actually hit the table, haha.

  2. I like the basic straightforward play style of the Ortega's, so that's why I went with that box.

It was a toss up between Perdita and the Viktorias. It's weird because I usually avoid playing with female characters / models, but I figured that would be impossible to do in Malifaux and not severly hamper myself. Aside from my ploy to get my wife to play, I ended up going with Perdita because I chose a merc force for Warma-hordes and I didn't want to have the Outcasts as my primary in Malifaux.

Well see though, if we like the game and play a lot I will probably get the Viktorias as well.

    1. Females seem to be pretty well represented in malifaux. They also seem to always only wear half a shirt. It must be hot there...
