Privateer Press Holiday Bundles

It's that time of year again! Everyone is slashing prices and offering gift set bundles to get more stuff out the door. This is awesome for anyone looking into warmahordes as I feel these bundles offer a better look at how the game actually plays.  All the bundles are different prices and come with a set of faction tokens, a pocket-sized rulebook, and a special two-sided 1.5"x 1.5" WARMACHINE/HORDES metal holiday ornament.

Prices and contents of the bundles after the jump. As well as a quick synopsis of what I think of each of them.

Blindwater Congregation Bundle

Bloody Barnabus
Bull Snapper
Blackhide Wrastler
Swamp Horror
Gatorman Posse(5)
Viktor Pendrake
I don't think I've ever seen anyone play crocs, so I don't know how good of a buy this is. People love them some Gatorman Posse on the internet though, so there's that. Also, the new warlock coming out in the colossals book is supposedly bad ass, which I guess is a bit of incentive to look into this. I'm going to stay away myself.

Circle of Orboros Bundle
Baldur the Stonecleaver
Wold Guardian
Druid Stoneward and Woldstalkers
Shifting Stones
Stone Keeper
Seems like a good start to a Baldur force. Add in a megalith and a woldwrath and you could have a pretty decent 50ish point list. Also, it's one of the cheaper price tags, so there's that.

Legion of Everblight Bundle
Shredder x2
Blighted Nyss Striders
Blighted Nyss Shepard
With the exception of the striders, this is a pretty awesome bundle for Abby. With the upcoming release of the Archangel, this bundle can be easily adapted to fit it in. You can drop the striders and then add a couple forsaken and another shredder for her tier 4 list. That's not too shabby to start with imo.

Skorne Bundle
Master Aesetic Naaresh
Cyclops Savage x2
Titan Gladiator
Nihilators (10)
Paingiver Beast Handlers (4)
Aptimus Marketh
I pretty much know nothing about Skorne. Is this a good buy? Seems like a lot of models and beast handlers are supposed to be pretty good. If anyone has any input on this, let me know

Trollbloods Bundle
Grim Angus
Pyre Troll
Troll Impaler
Dire Troll Bomber
Trollkin Fennblades(10)
Fell Caller Hero
Seems pretty good for a starting point. This is definitely more of a ranged troll list, so it may come off as a bit gimicky. But I like the synergies between the models here. Nothing too complicated. Sit back, cast spells and animi on your beasts and shoot away. You might have problems with a better shooty army, but this is definitely an Ok place to start with a troll army.

Cygnar Bundle
Lord Commander Stryker
Stormguard (10)
Journeyman Warcaster
I also don't know much about Cygnar other than you prolly aren't going to do well unless you're playing Haley or a stormwall list. This bundle doesn't have either of those, so unless you really want to play blue guys, I would stay away.

Khador Bundle
Vladimir Tzepesci, the Dark Prince
War Dog
Juggernaut Man-O-War Demolition Corps (5)
Again, this is an awesome list to add a colossal to. Vlad and conquest are a match made in red guy heaven. Conquest, mechaniks, and possibly some screening infantry will make this a list to reckon with. A decent price tag as well if you are looking to give this as a gift. Either to a friend or to yourself :)

Protectorate of Menoth Bundle
Grand Scrutator Severius
Choir of Menoth(6)
Exemplar Bastions(5)
Vassal of Menoth
This bundle is focused specifically on the battlegroup and the jacks you field. I really like the synergy here as well. It really seems like the person that put these together knew what they were doing. This does seem like one of the more complicated lists though and may not necessarily be for the beginner.

Cryx Bundle
Pirate Queen Skarre
Deathripper x2
Skarlock Thrall
Satyxis Raiders (10)
Satyxis Raider Captain
Skarre is a beast and very beginner friendly. If you are interested in Cryx and want to learn the game as straight forward as possible, this may be the bundle for you. Your next purchase would most likely be some Banes, but that can be said for most Cryx lists. This is definitely a good buy if you want some more piratey goodness (or badness?) in your life.

Mercenary Bundle
Ashlynn D'Elyse
Sylys Wyshnalyrr, the Seeker
Steelhead Riflemen (10)
Gorman di Wulffe, Rogue Alchemist
Rhupert Carvalo, Piper of Ord
Most Warmachine players love them some Sylys and Gorman, so this bundle definitely has that going for it. The thing about mercs is that there are just so many ways to go. This could be a good starting point, but there are also 20 other starting points that would be just as good. That being said, mercs on their own aren't all that great. I would recommend starting one of the main factions if you are going to drop 150+.

Retribution of Scyrah Bundle
Lord Arcanist Ossyan
Dawnguard Invictors(10)
This is not all that bad. I don't think it's all that good either, but it's definitely a place to start. This list is definitely in need of a mage hunter strike force and probably a Hypnos. His feat is ridiculous when combined with good ranged shooting, so you can even put in a Hyperion if you have the inclination. But the points might be better spent on just more mage hunter strike forces.

Thornfall Alliance
Lord Carver, Bmmd, Esq. III
Gun Boar x2
War Hog
Farrow Slaughterhousers
Gudrun the Wanderer
Saxon Orrik
Pigs are not good unfortunately. And with the highest price tag of the bunch, this is one you should definitely stay away from. Unless pigs are your thing, in which case go for it. Who doesn't love them some bacon???
